On the 17th of November, the Minister of Health and Labour Tanel Kiik and the Minister of Social Protection Signe Riisalo awarded this year's Family Friendly Employers, including the companies that have passed the ex-post evaluation process. MDC Max Daetwyler Eesti AS retained the silver label for family-friendliness.

Participation in the Family Friendly Workplaces programme is a long-term process, led by the management of the organisations in close cooperation with the employees. Organisations that have been awarded the final label must undergo a follow-up assessment every two years. In 2021, 16 companies have passed the ex-post evaluation process, including MDC Max Daetwyler Eesti AS.

From 25 to 29 October, MDC Estonia's welding department manager and a welder visited Blechexpo/Schweisstec in Stuttgart. There were leading manufacturers of sheet metal cutting machines and welding and grinding equipment represented. The aim of the visit was to get an overview of the new equipment on the market.

The division manager of MDC Estonia had the opportunity to visit this year's engineering exhibition in Milan, Italy.

The total number of visitors was around 60 000. Around 700 companies from 34 countries were exhibited. The whole spectrum of production was on display, from metalworking to metal cutting, from robotics to automation, from hand tools to machinery, from mechatronics to more complex technologies. More than 3 500 machines were on offer, worth more than half a billion euros.

The aim of the visit was to see innovations in the field of metal cutting and to identify companies producing portal-type machines. 

We gained valuable information on different machines for future investments.

To standardize, simplify and automate the welding processes for stainless steel pipes, our company invested in enclosed orbital welding.

More quality is achieved by the intelligent orbital welding power source ORBIMAT 180 SW due to the digital and precise welding gas control. The device has fully automatic programming by entering the pipe diameter, wall thickness, material type and welding gas. The enclosed orbital welding head ORBIWELD 115S with power source is used for pipes with a diameter of 18-115 mm.

To improve the quality of pipe cutting, we also purchased a pipe cutting machine. The saw cuts alloyed steel, carbon steel, plastic and non-ferrous metals.

In April, we organized an online-training with specialists from Germany for our employees. The necessary certifications were carried out in the first week of May. Many thanks to everyone who helped us to get started with the new device!

MDC Max Dätwyler Eesti AS was registered on November 30, 1994. There is a little bit confusion about the exact founding date. This is because in that time the companies in Estonia were registered in the City Government and not in the Business Register. According to this MDC Max Dätwyler Eesti AS was founded on the 21st of May in 1996. Initially, our company also had a different registration number than today. 

It took time to prepare all the documents and therefore the production started in 1995. At first, we started to work on the premises of the Baltic Shipyard (BLRT). In 1998 the company moved to the current location, Betooni 4. In November 2017, the street was renamed, and we got a new address, Silde 5. 

In March 2002, the name MDC Max Dätwyler Eesti AS was changed and Dätwyler was replaced by Daetwyler. Conscious branding became important and the names for the whole group were harmonized. Since the letter ä is not used everywhere, it was replaced by ae. 

For the fourth year in a row, we organize health-oriented activities for our employees at MDC Max Daetwyler Eesti AS, to raise employee awareness and promote healthy lifestyles. Healthy stuff makes a better contribution and there are fewer absences.

Every year we organize a couple of health-related training courses, such as work stress, accident prevention, harms from smoking, sleep disorders and mental health. Employees are always very interested in the trainings and the feedback is positive.

As part of the health month, we also organize an orientation event in the forest or in the park. Employees can participate with a colleague, family or friend. Especially now, when you have to avoid contact as much as possible because of Covid-19, it is a good opportunity to move outside and have fun.

In addition, various competitions took place outdoors, on our own sports equipment and different events via Endomondo Sports Tracker. For example, our employees made GPS art and came to work by bike. Healthy snacks during the break were also offered to the employees.
